Overall, I am very stoked on this set-up and looking forward to seeing what these skis can do.This Privacy Policy is in accordance with the provisions arising from art. Fast and smooth, i didnt even approach top speed. Fear of a shale face shot kept me from letting them run too much, but the couple times i did they were impressive. They are definitely a handful and if you don't pay attention they will kick your ass. I hit a couple spots with wind buffed steeps and the big skis were agile and stable in jump turns. I thought the skis turned surprisingly easily when the bumps got bigger or in some steep trees. I thought my Volkl G-41s were the best crud busters ever, but the Monsters pretty quickly dethroned them. While i didnt get any fresh turns, there was plenty of soft snow/ chopped powder to try them out. If you are a big skier and/or former racer looking for a stiff boot, give the Xwave 10s a look.īig Sky opening day had a couple inches new, and it had been snowing on and off all week. As these break in i expect they will really make a positive impact on my skiing. After a few runs, it really felt good to be on such a sturdy boot again. I was getting some foot cramps which is what happens to me if i steer too much rather than carving the turn. At first I was wondering if I had made a mistake getting that stiff a boot. Quick and responsive, more than enough to drive the monsters. The Xwaves have a spectacularly smooth sole that left me dancing a few times but the ski performance is amazing. After AT/tele boots, i had to re-learn how to walk in ski boots without vibram soles and ski/walk levers. I had minimal discomfort even after waiting an hour for a lift ticket. I have a pretty wide foot and there is plenty of room for my footbeds. The fit is great though, the only part of my foot that moves at all is a little toe wiggle room. Unbuckled they are stiffer than my Denalis are cranked. so i remounted the bindings to put me 1.5 cm forward. I didnt buy these as powder skis and figured i would need help turning them more than floating. when i adjusted the heel pieces for my boots it put me about 1cm back. I got the 193 monsters with tyrolia free flex 17 bindings. So some of my opinions could be colored by the new boots and bindings. I skied tele only for 10 yrs then two on AT gear (freerides, denali xt). It was my first day on full alpine skis, boots and bindings in 12 years. Figured I probably wouldnt do any damage that couldnt be fixed. Since i ended up landing a used pair of these bad boys (thanks slip!), i felt ok taking them out to Big Sky on Sunday.
